The University of Sydney Business School has recently launched a new employability initiative called “Job Smart”, which is powered by Intersective’s Practera technology. Students were engaged via a mobile app – developed by the Intersective development team – that helped them track their participation in the Job Smart employability skills development program. The Practera platform powered the mobile app, which included gamification and reflective tools that supported a program of employability skills development.

The Business School has responded to employer concerns with a unique ‘Job Smart’ program designed to ensure that post graduates are not only equipped with the right academic skills but are also job ready when they enter the employment market.
The seven week program of hands on activities, tuition, workshops and computer based learning, has proven particularly popular amongst international students keen to develop their local knowledge, cultural understanding, language skills and professional networks.
“As an international student, I took part in the program to grow my social and professional network in Australia,” said participant Hui Kuan Chew. “It was a great opportunity for me to meet new people and experience the Australian culture.”
Around 700 students took part in the recently completed program, which Career Service Manager (Education) Lucinda Crossley-Meates, says was established because “employers have made it clear that they want more than academic skills”.
